PTC is a an initiative within ASU’s School of Transborder Studies designed to promote collaborative and binational research about Latina/o and Mexican origin populations and their communities in the United States-Mexico borderlands.
PTC invites you to apply for the 2019-2020 Research Seed Grant Cycle! The PTC Research Seed Grants support academic year-long collaborative efforts by Arizona State University (ASU) faculty interested in pursuing research focused on the cultural, economic, political and environmental processes occurring at the intersection of borders and society, with emphasis on the Arizona-Sonora border region. Applications focusing on other borders and transborder communities are also welcome to apply. Awards up to $7,500 with additional funding of up to $1,500 for visiting scholar.
This cycle is open to all ASU Faculty who are eligible to submit grants to external funding agencies and doctoral students working with faculty in social sciences, environmental sciences, and the humanities at any of the ASU campuses. PTC supports projects that demonstrate potential impact of scholarship and strong prospects of receiving external funding. We encourage proposals involving at least one faculty from the Arizona-Sonora Inter-university Alliance (ASI Alliance) institutions: Universidad de Sonora (UNISON), Colegio de Sonora (COLSON), El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (COLEF), Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo (CIAD), and Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora (ITSON). Proposals including faculty from Northern Arizona University (NAU) and the University of Arizona (UofA) will be given special consideration.

La Universidad de Sonora, El Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo, El Colegio de Sonora, El Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora, y El Colegio de da Frontera Norte (Oficina Nogales) have released their joint call for proposals.
In order to strengthen and expand collaboration between the public universities of Sonora and Arizona, as well as to expand opportunities for cross-border development in the region through scientific research, the above-mentioned institutions have formed with Arizona State University (ASU ), University of Arizona (UA) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) Sonora-Arizona Inter-University Alliance. As a result of this agreement, the institutions have established parallel funds (Seed Grants) to stimulate research and scientific development in the region. On behalf of the Mexican institutions, the "Support Fund for the Promotion of Research in the Sonora-Arizona Region" was established.
